I know it’s hard to focus on writing a resume and applying for jobs when you could be marathoning “Scandal” on Netflix instead. Luckily for you, job hunting and dramatic television combine in my blog post for Fundamentum this week, as I imagine what Olivia Pope’s post-college resume might have looked like.
Today, Fundamentum introduced a new kind of post into its usual blog material: career profiles! This is an attempt to broaden people’s scopes when it comes to thinking about a career. Sure, everyone knows what’s entailed in being a teach, or a doctor, or a lawyer, or a fashion designer… but what does a Product Manger or Business Systems Consultant or Production Coordinator do? These are job titles that exist in hundreds of different, awesome, companies, but because they are more obscure and less talked about, you be overlooking them as options. What if one of those jobs was where you found your calling?
For the first profile, I had the pleasure of interviewing my friend Emily about her career as an SEO Account Manager. In the interview, she reflects on how she came to end up in that field, how she got her first job, and all of the duties it entails. Give it a read and see if her experience resonates with you!
