It’s Never Too Late To Change Your Career

There are few things more stressful for a 20-something than making it out of college and into the Real World, only to realize the career you’ve been pursuing isn’t for you. I can personally attest to this fact, having recently made the decision that even though I took the LSAT, spent hundreds of dollars on applications, and years working at law firms, I do *not* in fact want to go to law school to become an attorney.

But this wasn’t the first time I had planned out a career only to have it come crashing down around me, as my mother reminded me during a recent phone call. There was a time in my life I thought I wanted to be “a rainforest-dwelling assassin, hunting poachers in the name of defending the tigers.”

I know, right!?

In recalling that childhood story, I make some realizations about myself and about selecting careers in general, and it’s all here, in my new article for Thought Catalog.
